Special Women's Practice in Steveston

Posted August 28, 2011

Team Canada invites all Women Members of the CKF to participate in a ‘Special Women's Practice’ with the Team Canada Women's group and special guest Hayashi Kunio Sensei (Hanshi 8th Dan) of Chukyo University in Japan. This practice represents an excellent opportunity for female Kendoka to receive more 'Women specific' instruction as Hayashi Kunio Sensei was the Kantoku (Manager and Coach) of Japan's National Women's Team when the Women's Category was introduced to the WKCs at the 10th World Kendo Championships in Kyoto, Japan.

Prospects for the Women’s National Team from across Canada will be in BC for a Team Canada Women’s Kendo camp during the Sept 10-11th weekend. This special practice has been scheduled to provide an opportunity for local Kendoka to practice with the women and experience some of the unique drills and techniques practiced by Team Canada and led by Daisuke Hayashi Sensei (Women’s Coach).

This event will be held on Saturday, September 10th from 7:30-9:00pm at the Steveston. There is no charge to attend but donations towards the Team Canada fundraising are welcomed.

We thank Canadian Kendoka for their ongoing support for Team Canada and look forward to an enjoyable practice on Sept 10th.

Dear CKF Members,

Thank you for your ongoing support for Team Canada.

As you are aware, the Team Canada 2012 campaign has begun. One of our goals is to keep the Canadian Kendo community informed of the creation and development of The Next Team Canada. To that end, we have just launched the 'Team Canada - Kendo' fanpage on Facebook. The page includes photos from previous Canadian Kendo Teams from 1970 to 2009....and will act as a platform for Team Canada 2012 announcements. It's a work-in-progress and we invite people to upload and share their own Team Canada related photos and experiences.

To view...go to www.facebook.com and create a Facebook account (if you do not already have an account) and then check out the Team Canada Kendo page. You can join or 'like' it to receive ongoing changes or updates to the page.

If you have ideas or talents you wish to share to better support and promote Team Canada, please feel free to contact us. Enjoy.

Regards,

Bryan Asa and Paul Eric Marko
