Asaoka and Kamata receive 8dan, Feb 2, 2005

I am pleased to announce that upon examination by the Central Grading Committee the following applicants have been successfully granted the level of Kendo 8th Dan.

Mr. Mitsuru Asaoka, 8th DAN
Mr. Shane Kamata, 8th DAN

The Canadian Kendo Federation is very proud of all of our members. Please join me in congratulating Mr. Asaoka and Mr. Kamata for achieving this prominent level in their Kendo careers.

Ono sensei passes, Oct 13 2004

Mr. Kiyoshi Ono passed away at 5pm on Wednesday, Oct 13, 2004. He was 86 years old. The funeral service was held at the Mount Royal Funeral Home in Montreal Quebec on Sunday, Oct 17, 2004 and many Kendo people were present. 

Mr. Ono served as Vice president of the CKF during 1980's  He was a founder of the Montreal Kendo Club and developed  Kendo in the province of Quebec.  He recieved a special award from the All Japan Kendo Federation for his contribution to Canadian Kendo in 2002. On behalf of the CKF members I would like to express our sincere condolences to Mrs Ono and her family.

It is our pleasure to inform you that the All Japan Kendo Federation has decided that the following people, recommended by us, are to receive an appreciation award.

The awards will be presented to:

Mr. Moriharu Tanigami
Mr. Kiyoshi Ono


The commendation is one of the events for the 50th anniversary of the All Japan Kendo Federation. Those people who have contributed greatly to the promotion and development of Kendo in Canada are awarded.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all of you who are associated with the Canadian Kendo Federation.
